The Trekker's Barn is a traditional stone barn some 200 years old. Located at over 1,000 feet above sea level in the rural heart of the Black Mountains, which make up the Eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, there are spectacular views of the surrounding hills. It’s also right next to our pub, The Castle Inn - how convenient…
The bunkhouse is divided into 2 rooms, the one contains 6 bunks (sleeping space for 12) and the other contains 5 bunk beds (sleeping 10), chairs and tables. Fold up beds are also available if required.
The whole barn is newly carpeted and fully centrally heated using an oil fired boiler. Pillows and fitted sheets are provided, so all you'll need is a sleeping bag or duvet and a towel (unless you make other arrangements). Each side has two private wet rooms, with great showers! There is a kettle and mugs in each side - so don't forget your brewing up stuff! The water is Welsh Mountain spring water, filtered, safe and tested regularly – and usually tasting gorgeous. Showering in hot spring water, the troubles of the past go floating down the drain, the fountain of youth is at your command – you get the picture - if you’ve had a few pints of real ale it might feel like it anyway!
The Trekker's Barn is for groups only, and rated 3 star (group accommodation) by the Wales Tourist Board. One side has a minimum occupancy of 7 and the other side has a minimum occupancy of 9. To book both sides there is a mimimum occupancy level of 16.
These are the minimum charges that will apply even if some of your group fail to arrive, so please try to get payment from your friends before, so you aren't left making up any extra!
The cost is £12 per person per night, without breakfast and an extra £3 with breakfast (juice, cereals, toast and cooked breakfast). This is a group option only arranged when booking.
The Trekker's Barn is not self-catering, but breakfast is included and good home-cooked food can be bought in our pub next door.
Both the bunkhouse and Inn are ideal for groups - walking or biking clubs etc, training activities, get-together's, reunions, clubs, parties, stag or hen groups. There is ample parking for cars and minibuses and safe storage for bikes.
Did you know that we now have a six-bed bunkroom (minimum occupancy is five)? It is the same as the others but small and cuter! It’s the same price, and also booked on a bed and breakfast basis.
Bed and breakfast is also available in the Castle Inn next door and camping (£3 per person per night) is also available next to the bunkhouse.
